Include eibPort into the internet

Mostly eibPort is connected the internet by a router. In order to be able to reach the gateway, it must have its own IP address.

Static IP address

The static IP address always remains. An eibPort gateway with static IP address is attainable via the InterNet with this IP address. Several providers (e.g. freenet) offer services with static IP addresses.

Dynamic IP address

Each device that accesses the internet (and has no static IP address ) automatically gets a dynamic IP address from the service provider. This address changes with each access. Therefore eibPort cannot be reached with a dynamic IP address. Even if an eibPort behind a router stays online around the clock, it is not sure that the present IP address remains. Because some providers close the connection automatically every 24 hours. There are free services (e.g. dyndns.org) in the internet, which connect dynamic IP addresses to a domain. You receive your own domain (e.g. YourName.de) on that you can always reach your eibPort. For this function you need a router that is able to access the dns service in the internet automatically.
